Dr. Graeme Atherton

Founder of AccessHE and the National Education Opportunities Network

Dr. Graeme Atherton founded and leads both AccessHE and the National Education Opportunities Network (NEON) in the UK. AccessHE is a network of over 200 schools, colleges and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), working together in London to extend access to higher education (HE). NEON is the national professional organization for social mobility through widening access to higher education in UK with over 100 universities as members. He holds Visiting Professorships at London Metropolitan University, Amity Business School and Sunway University, Kuala Lumpur. He also leads the World Access to Higher Education Initiative which is creating a global network of organizations committed to equitable access to Higher Education. He has produced over 150 publications and conference papers on equitable access to Higher Education. His recent publications include Charting Equity: Drawing the Global Access Map published by Pearson in September 2016, Access to Higher Education: Understanding Global Inequalities published by Palgrave MacMillan in December 2016 and Widening Access through the lifecycle in December 2017.
